I, Judy

Fiction, teenage romance by Eve Bennett i-judy

The story is built around Judy Lansing, a high school senior in a school called Central.  She has all the problems that beset most teenage girls in the 50’s – she wishes she weren’t such a beanpole, that she didn’t freeze up when a boy spoke to her, that she had a job as reporter on the school paper, that she had a closer understanding with her mother.

Judy’s own very personal problems are interwoven with those of her friends – Fran, who has poor judgement about boys and the gentle, placid Kay, who is Judy’s best friend.  And then there is Riley Kemp, the boy who assumes a very important role in Judy’s life.  Riley is an only son in a rich family.   His mother is too busy “do-gooding” to look after her son, but she sees that he gets a Jaguar for his birthday.
